Who Are Ola Hanson & the
Kachin?
Rev. and Mrs. Ola Hanson
were appointed by the
American Baptist Foreign
Mission Society in 1890 to
the Kachin people of Upper
Burma and they arrived in
December of that year. The
task before them seemed
hopeless.
In the early days of
pioneer missions, the
Kachins were described as
revengeful, cruel, and
treacherous. Even the King
of Burma addressed the
missionaries who came to
work with the Kachins as
follows: "So you are to
teach the Kachins! Do you
see my dogs over there? I
tell you, it will be easier
to convert and teach these
dogs. You are wasting your
life."
Today there are 400,000
to 500,000 Kachin
Christians; 300,000 of them
are Baptists. Ola Hanson is
strongly revered even today
as the
father of the Kachin church.
Ola Hanson arrived in
1890 to improve the
translation work begun by
William Henry Roberts (who
arrived 12 Jan 1879; retired
1914) and others. Among
other literature, Hanson
completed the Gospel of John
in 1895 and the entire Bible
on 11 Aug 1926. He presented
the Kachin Holy Bible to
Damau Naw on 27 Mar 1927
during the Golden Jubilee
celebration. About 90
percent of the Kachin are
Christian.

သာသနာျပဳမ်ားကို ေျပာသည္မွာ
တိရိစာၦန္မ်ားကို
ခရစ္ယာန္ဘာသာယံုၾကည္ေစရန္
ျပဳလုပ္ျခင္းသည္ လြယ္ဦးမည္ဟု
ဆိုစကားရွိသည္။
ယခုအခါ လူဦးေရ ၄ သိန္းမွ ၅ သိန္းထိ ရွိေသာကခ်င္လူမ်ိဳးစုမ်ားအနက္

ႏွစ္ျခင္းခရစ္ယာန္မ်ားျဖစ္ၾကသည္။
အိုလာ ဟင္ဆမ္ကို
ကခ်င္အသင္းေတာ္မ်ား၏ ဖခင္ဟု
သတ္မွတ္ထားၾကသည္။

၁၈၉၅ တြင္ျပီးစီးခဲ့သည္။

ျပီးစီးခဲ့ျပီး
ပံုႏွိပ္ထုတ္ေ၀ခဲပါသည္။
